Job Title: Senior Java Developer


Overview of Position:


This engineer will need to have a successful history of analysis, design and implementations in a business critical environment. This person will support the integrated development for all internal facing Web-based application projects. Their primary area of focus will be server-side development which includes the design, coding and testing of medium to large application components. Senior Java Developers are expected to provide support for the production systems (3rd tier) as well some internal end user assistance when needed. They work closely with Technical Leads, Architects, other Software Engineers, and Quality Engineers in a highly collaborative environment.


Key Accountabilities:

• Designing, implementing, and unit testing server-side JEE/Java code.
• Participates in the full SDLC (RUP/Agile), including meetings, iterative development, estimations and design sessions.
• Works with Operations and IT teams to help support production environments.
• Works with business analysts to resolve complex end user ticket issues.
• Delivering project assignments on time, within budget and with high quality.
• Works with the Technical Lead to write and review technical specifications as required, meeting the objectives of functional specifications. Specifically, identifying specific interfaces, methods, parameters, procedures or functions as required.
• Collaborating with Architects and other Software Engineering resources in designing and implementing integrated, enterprise solutions.



Skill Requirements:

MUST HAVE

• Bachelors degree in Computer Science/Engineering or equivalent work experience.
• Minimum of 6 years total experience as an engineer in a web environment doing development with Java/JEE.
• Expert Java 5 or later knowledge
• Expert knowledge of Spring Dependency Injection and other core Spring features.
• Strong communications skills
• Strong experience in application design, design patterns and performance tuning
• Strong SQL, Data Modeling and DB skills (Oracle)
• Experienced with JBOSS JEE server management and configuration.
• Experience designing and implementing with Hibernate or another ORM / EJB3 JPA provider.
• Experience with UML modeling and effective communication for design reviews.
• Background developing on a Linux platform.
• Experience with Agile and/or RUP methodologies
• Ability and desire to thrive in a proactive, high-pressure, client-services, environment.
• Successful history of web projects delivered
• Strong estimating and planning skills
• Ability to clearly write technical specifications.


Additional preferred attributes

• Java certifications (SCJD or SCJA)
• Consulting experience
• Web experience in Retail
• Experience with SOA, SADs and Integration Patterns
• Experience with other Open source frameworks
